ALBATROSS / "tross" / AVES.000212.02, covertly known as THE DREAD WITCH. 19. former participant of the elysian fields program — a subterranean world-wide network dedicated to the well-being and specialized training of every "deviated" human — and an ex-agent of the aviary sect, located in a facility 1.6 kilometers beneath the atacama desert. albatross is a powerful essokinetic who specializes in illusory "magic" that he often utilizes to keep himself hidden from active agents of the aviary. ornery and gleefully disobedient, he currently works as an entertainer (see: stripper and escort) in an eccentric los angeles nightclub while freelance modeling on the side. EARLY HISTORY. "born" on february 12th, 2000 within the confines of the aviary's underground biodome, tross is a genetically engineered recreation of an aviary agent known as KESTREL / AVES.950812.01. albatross was one of the only children in a "batch" of genetically engineered children born within the facility in the year 2000 to survive to early childhood. second generation aviary agent, following in the footsteps of the deviant children who were brought into the aviary in the 1990s after it was formed ( "the first generation" ). while powerful with promising potential, tross frequently scored near the bottom half of the aviary's leaderboard ( while never topping the elysian fields' leaderboard at all ) due to flagrant insubordination to his superiors. tross' disobedience led to him spending a good portion of his childhood cycling in and out of solitary. solitary was a 6 feet by 8 feet room with a stripped bed and toilet. depending on his behavior, he was sometimes blindfolded and restrained or continually sedated. all rights were stripped while committed to solitary. while serving a solitary sentence, he spent half his time in the cell, and the other half was spent in a controlled room where he was systematically tortured to test the limits of his abilities. these particular experiences are the brunt of his Baggage, understandably. while active, he was mostly utilized as an interrogation tool due to his illusory abilities — and because the unpredictable nature of his larger abilities made him extremely unsuited for ops requiring a more refined touch. his time spent as an interrogator is where he earned the name the dread witch. albatross was pulled from active field duty permanently after a DECEMBER 4TH, 2014 incident led to the death of an aviary agent and elysian fields officer. agent kestrel attended the op and was also injured, though he recovered. tross spent the next year in solitary before he was allowed to return to his duties in early 2016, shortly before he escaped the facility. escaped the aviary in 2016; currently located in eastern california where he works as a nightclub entertainer ( stripper / non-sexual escort ) while freelance modeling on the side. the majority of tross' gigs have been for small businesses and companies. while he's been approached with exclusive contracts, he's refused each one, preferring the relative anonymity of freelancing. also a complete social media ghost. albatross was most commonly known as the dread witch, but other aliases and code names include: chaos mage, mind siren, and hekate. PERSONALITY. feral garbage child with massive ptsd, infuriatingly stubborn and spontaneous. extremely protective and defensive of his personal space and what he sees as his freedoms/rights. talents include cycling through the full human emotional spectrum in .2 seconds. he can go from sweetly unassuming to wildly unpredictable in a heartbeat. confident but not particularly competitive. equal parts disinterested and mistrustful. if he can't get what he wants via sweet talking, he can get it via his abilities, so not much concerns him beyond his overwhelming fear of permanently losing control or autonomy. ABILITIES. ESSOKINETIC, with his specific genetic mutation allowing him to pull from a chaotic interdimensional source called the catacombs. despite his raw power, tross' abilities are inherently unstable and extremely difficult to control. his capabilities include: probability manipulation/reality warping — he can manipulate anything within a particular space, including molecular space and space-time and perception of reality ( his illusions/hexes ). some of the larger, more impactful aspects of this ability are out of his control and stem from the influence of the catacombs. telekinesis, tied directly to his ability to warp reality, though this is the main facet of his ability that he has true mastery over. HEXING is a mental compulsion tied to tross' psychic ability. when someone is compelled, they are the under influence of tross' illusory hexes. his influence is strongest when he's in the same vicinity as the person he's hexing and becomes weaker with distance, or if his mental focus is abruptly broken. he can hex someone with or without eye contact, but eye contact makes the initial connection much easier. a hex is always preceded with a verbal trigger; tross' trigger is the word "listen". not limited to a single person; he can extend the ability to an entire room of people at once. for some, the effects of a hex feel like an out-of-body experience or like they're suspended in a dreamlike state, while others won't realize that their perception of reality has been altered. when a hex is broken, it's generally followed by a period of intense nausea and a headache, similar to a bad hangover. fluent in english, russian, mandarin, and castilian spanish. when conversing in english, he speaks with a general american accent.
